How to get to Loro Parque

Loro Parque sits in the Punta Brava district of Puerto de la Cruz, two kilometres west of the town centre on the north coast of Tenerife. From the town it is a free tourist train or a short bus ride; from the southern resorts it is an hour and a quarter by motorway or a paid coach. Here are the routes from every base, the airports included, with the map and the parking warning that saves an argument.

Where it is

Loro Parque, Avenida Loro Parque s/n, 38400 Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, at the western end of the town between the Punta Brava neighbourhood and the banana plantations. From Plaza del Charco in the old town it is a flat 25 to 30 minute walk along the coast past Playa Jardín; from the Lago Martiánez end of town a little more. It is one of the few sights in Tenerife that is easier without a car, because the park runs its own free shuttle from the centre.

The free Loro Parque Express train

A free road train, the Loro Parque Express, links the centre of Puerto de la Cruz with the park entrance all day long. It leaves from Plaza de los Reyes Católicos beside Lago Martiánez, picks up at San Telmo on the seafront, and runs every 20 minutes in both directions during opening hours; the first and last departures shift with the season and are posted at the stop. It is free for everyone, no ticket needed, and the ride takes about 15 minutes. In high season the first morning trains fill, so be at the stop ten minutes early. Which ticket to hold when you arrive is on the prices and discounts page.

By bus, car and taxi

TITSA, the island bus company, has a stop named Loro Parque on line 381, which circles from Plaza de los Reyes Católicos through Punta Brava to the park and La Longuera in about 20 minutes. From Santa Cruz the 100 is the direct line to Puerto de la Cruz and the 102 the slower one; from the south the 343 links Costa Adeje with Puerto de la Cruz and calls at both airports on the way. Pay on board with a contactless card or a ten+ card and check titsa.com for the current timetable. By car, leave the TF-5 at the Puerto de la Cruz exits and follow the signs to Punta Brava; the park has its own paid car park at the gate. Ignore anyone in the surrounding streets offering a 'Loro Parque parking' for a few euros: these are unofficial attendants, the spaces are public and there have been complaints about pressure and damaged cars. A taxi from the town centre costs a few euros and takes ten minutes.

From the south of the island

Most visitors stay in the south, and the north coast is a genuine excursion: Costa Adeje to Puerto de la Cruz is about 100 kilometres of motorway, an hour and a quarter without traffic and more on a weekday morning around Santa Cruz. Three ways work. A hire car makes it a day out with the Teide road on the way back. The TITSA 343 is the cheap option but slow. The park and the online sellers offer a return coach from the southern hotels, sold on its own or bundled into the Twin Ticket with transfer at 99 € per adult, which lands at the gate at opening and leaves mid-afternoon after the second orca presentation. Opening hours and the show times to plan around are on the opening hours page.
